Here is Flores Island, the land of the Hidden Treasure to be discovered!
Flores Island, one of thousand islands on the archipelago of Indonesia. The island is 14.300 km2 ocupied by more than 1.8 million population of different ethnic groups with different local dialect and cultural background. Natural landscape and its bio diversity of flora and fauna make the island a paradise to escape away from today hectic days.
Flores can be reached through three points of entrance i.e Maumere, Ende and Labuan Bajo. Labuanbajo (West Gate) and Maumere (East Gate) are the most common way to start up exploring the island.
West Gate : Your entrence would be through Labuan Bajo (Komodo Interntional Airport). The trip will be started with a visit to Rinca and/or Komodo Island to see the dragons on its natural habitat. Sailing back to Labuanbajo then drive eastward through the mountain ranges and forests to Ruteng (Manggarai), East Manggarai, Ngada (Bajawa) with visits to the traditional communities, Riung proceeds to Ende to visit Kelimutu the three color Lakes, Maumere to Larantuka and back to Maumere for departure flight back to Bali.
East Gate: Your Entrence would be through Maumere (Frans Seda Domestic Airport.) From Maumere your trip will be led eastward firstly to explore Larantuka or the easternmost part of the island and the most untouched land strong with Portuguese influences, back to Maumere then proceeds to Moni for Kelimutu and Ende. Continuing the trip to Riung then Bajawa with some stops for the old villages, culture and nature adventure. Proceeds westward to East Manggarai then Ruteng with some visits to the old village Waerebo, Ruteng Pu'u and the Web rice field then drive down and ups to Labuan Bajo to have a sailing to the Rinca and Komodo island, back to the mainland to have a departure flight back to Bali
