Reba Festival

 

Reba, is an annual held thanksgiving celebration to show respect to God and the ancestors for being blessed with a good harvest and wealth. Reba usually lasts for three days full of ceremonies and ritual activities which involves huge amounts of food crops and livestock that had been collected in advance. Please contact Trans Meridian Tours for detail program of your participation

Etu Traditional Boxing

 

Sagi or Etu is also one way of thanksgiving for good harvest for Nage tribe and Soa tribes. This is a lively celebration with sing along accompanied with bamboo music in advance the fighting of two wariors.  It is believed that blood dropped from the fighters bodies marks the blessings for that year’s abundant crop and is anticipated with gratitude.

Semana Sancta

 

A practice of Portuguese in celebrating Easter which the history of human salvation is reflected. Samana Sancta is  started by Portuguese traders while settled Larantuka since before 1600. The Potuguese cultural influence since then remained substantially in the Diocese of Larantuka in Flores Timur. Semana Sancta is well preserved by the local Catholic Church and the people in Larantuka up to now

Pati Ka Du'a Bapu ata Mata

 

Lio people believe Kelimutu is the final resting place of all souls. It is the place of our live’s journey come to an end. Pati Ka Du’a Bapu Ata Mata is the event where the Lio people sacrifices various type of food offering to the ancestors, showing their gratitude for the past year and hold prayers for blessings for the coming year.
